In 2017, Brazil's INMETRO (The National Institute of Metrology,Standardization and Industrial Quality)issued a new directive 20/2017, which established the INMETRO mandatory certification requirements for street lights (light sources are LED and gas discharge lamps), which mainly include performance, safety and electromagnetic compatibility requirements. The directive will be enforced from August 15, 2018.
The standard aims to improve energy efficiency and safety of highway lighting. We analyze the optical part to see how the LED optics can meet the requirements of INMETRO. The file for this analysis is Inmetro Portaria 20 Ingles.
The Inmetro Portaria 20 Ingles technical requirements document is mainly divided into the following two parts:
A——TECHNICAL SAFETYREQUIREMENTS
B——TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
Below we analyze the technical content that affects optical design in chapters A and B.
A——TECHNICAL SAFETYREQUIREMENTS
B——TECHNICAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
According to the standard content, we can conclude that INMETRO's requirements for street lights. In terms of optics, it is necessary to use PMMA lens, the lamp is covered with glass cover for protection, and the light type is full-cut light, cut-off light.
